Hi all. If you've been here a while you know I haven't been able to solve the toilet bowl issues with my FC V. 4.
After discussions with Patrick at SwellPro, I received my new FC V.5 and the latest compass/GPS puck.
Today I installed it, calibrated everything and even went through the re-binding process. What a disaster!
The first thing I noticed was the very quick and radical response of the throttle. Moving it up a very little caused the motors to go to almost full throttle. Then when I released the throttle stick, rather than holding the throttle speed, it dropped immediately to idle. This made my drone drop like a rock, fortunately from only 5 feet altitude but still, goodbye one landing gear, 4 stripped gimbal bolts and 2 props!
Before everything went haywire, I gently tried to fly forward. The drone immediately lurched backwards towards me. This forced me to crash-land to avoid injury.
Obviously the controller and the FC are not speaking the same language. Patrick assured me that all I had to do was plug the same wires into the same locations in the FC, recalibrate everything then fly! Hmm!
I've re-checked all the wiring, the connections and the calibrations. All seems OK. I'm using the V.5.0 software to calibrate everything and all seems well. Idling it on the bench and gently testing the sticks, the motors seem to be responding appropriately except for the throttle which is still weird.
Am I missing something? With the time change to China its now 3 AM there and I'm sure Patrick wouldn't appreciate a call right now. I will contact him in a few hours but thought some of your drone wizards out there might have a solution. I'm obviously missing something.
Cheers and many thanks for all your help, past, present and future./Larry
